Running with a Purpose

Last weekend, my hubby ran 13.1 miles....on purpose. He has been training for a few months now. And, he did it! I was so very proud of him! He, along with some friends, ran in the Nashville Half Marathon. The wives were so happy for all of them as they crossed the finish line and met their goal. As we saw each one cross that line, we were so excited, so proud.

The cause for these guys' commitment is a sweet little boy named Anderson. He is the son of some of our close friends. He was diagnosed with leukemia in January and has been facing treatments ever since. So, raising money for a cure for leukemia along with training for the race itself has been a major part of the past few months. Each runner for Team Anderson wore his picture on their jersey for the race... keeping them focused on why they started this race in the first place. Keep Anderson and his family in your prayers. They are about to enter a pretty intensive part of Anderson's treatment...for more information on his journey, you can visit http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/andersonthrower. He is a cutie and is doing so well, being so brave....but, sure having to face an awful lot as a little guy.

Here a few pictures from the weekend in Nashville:the wives supporting our husbands wearing our official Team Anderson shirts...This was our group on Friday night at the Team In Training pasta dinner. We had a great group of runners/supporters for Team Anderson. It was a good night to "get ready" for the big day.He was still smiling at Mile 3 when he passed our spot...go E!!And, after the race, he was still smiling....just a little tired, sweaty, and sore.
