Over the past week at our church, hundreds of volunteers have served two hour shifts with a common goal of packing meals to feed starving children all over the world. Our church set a goal of 500,000 meals to pack. We surpassed that goal after the four days of work....and packed 545,500 meals (feeding almost 1500 children for a year). I was so thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful cause again this year. Our class was involved in two different shifts - men on one night, women the next. The men set the bar high by packing 35 boxes (36 bags of food per box - 6 meals per bag). The women came in the next night ready to break their record....and, we did....39 boxes!! Whoo hoo!! Now, it wasn't the competition that was important (although it was so very fun to beat the guys), but it was the fact that during that two hour shift, my little group of friends was able to pack meals to feed 147 children for one year.
If you ever have a chance to work for the Feed My Starving Children organization, do it! What a great way to serve those who need help, to love with Christ's love, to be His hands!
